                                               About Department 

        Welcome to the department of Geography of Charaibahi College. The department was established in 1999. At the beginning only degree pass course classes were taught by two faculty members – Chakradhar Deka and Bharat Sut. The Major course in Geography was started in 2004. Initially the numbers of students were very poor but it gradually rises and at present it reaches more than 150. The department has now 4 faculty members of which one got Ph. D. degree and three members have M. Phil degree. One part time teacher is also engaged. The department is well equipped. The department conducts Project report, Field survey, excursion tour, teachers’ day etc. every year.

           To provide knowledge and make awareness about the Local and Global Environment among the rural based students.

Mission  

           To make our educators good decision makers and responsible person in the society.  

Objectives

1. To make awareness among the students about the geographical environment in the local, regional, national and global level.
2. To develop observational skill. 
3. To provide information about the natural resources and its conservation.

Facilities

           The departmental laboratory is well equipped with all necessary tools such as 3 computers, one printer, one GPS, Mirror Stereoscopes, Rotameters, Planimeters, Prismatic compass, Dumpy level, Theodolite, Aerial Photographs, Colour Images (Satellite Images), Maps and Outline Maps, Toposheets, Weather Maps, Weather Instruments, Globes etc. A departmental library with rich collection of Books and Journals is also opened to all teachers and students of Geography Department.
